Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is Uganda’s only destination where visitors can observe and track wild Southern White Rhinos on foot. Located in Nakasongola District, approximately halfway between Kampala and Murchison Falls National Park, the sanctuary plays a vital role in restoring Uganda’s rhino population after the species became extinct in the country’s wild landscapes during the early 1980s. Established in 2005, Ziwa has become one of Uganda’s greatest conservation success stories, breeding rhinos for future reintroduction into Uganda’s protected areas while promoting wildlife conservation, environmental education, and responsible tourism.

The highlight of every visit is the unforgettable Rhino Tracking experience, where visitors walk alongside experienced rangers to observe Southern White Rhinos in their natural savannah habitat.
